Many car ethuisasts believe the TOMS N086v is exactly how Toyota should have released the GT86.
The FA20 Subaru Boxer engine removed, and replaced with a 3.6L 6 cyclinder engine found currently in the Lexus IS / GS models.
A few tweaks have been done to see the engine output of 400hp, which is double of what the FA20 produces.
The exterior of the car is also changed with a pointy front bumper and carbo fibre guards.
The engine Bay
Seeing this engine sitting in the bay, begs the question what was Toyota thinking when they used the FA20 engine?
Sure the 6 cylinder may add a few $$$ to the manufacturing costs, but given the amount people are spending to turbocharge or supercharge the FA20 engines I'm sure people would be more than happy to pay it.
At the very least this drive line should be offered available as an optional upgrade.
Thanks to for the pictures.

i like to put a ISF driveline in mine in the future, but that would be 20 years down the track.....
i am quite happy with my 86 and how it came from factory. i honestly feel they got it all right. awesome base to modify. it was never meant to be a power house.
the factory balance is amazing.
if i wanted high power and good balance i would have bought another rx7. i prefer fuel economy and daily-ability over high power.
and the car is that fun to drive at any speed you dont care that its "slow", just like the ae86. you can drive it fast if you put some effort in, just like the ae86.
I rate this inline with the 4ac vs 4age. C'mon toyota let us have the isf engine as an optional upgrade for approx 5k

How it should have been! Toyota are still getting it wrong
Noice, is that similar to Orido's 86? IS-F V8 wasn't it?
though regardless what toyota did or didn't do in the engine bay, I'm glad I've got my 86 lol
