Ok, so after getting the other T04R turbo up and running, it fucked out in less than a week, the joys of buying second hand turbos....... Anyway, I have bought a brand new Borgwarner SX300 60mm turbo..... A much better turbo for my application (towing/occasional daily).
I fitted it all up, and really didn't need to mod much at all to fit it. They are pretty much the same dimensions as a T04R or Z..... I really just had to weld a different V band flange to the dump pipe.....
Anyway, I am very happy with the results. Boost comes on much earlier, starts making boost from 2200rpm now, and full boost by 3500rpm.....
We put it on the dyno yesterday and got good results.....
Here is a video of the dyno..... At the end of the video on the power graph, it is a overlap/comparison with the old T04R turbo. The old tune is the FURTHEST RIGHT (the one making less power etc)
Here is the final tune.
Not a bad power curve at all, and holds 20psi extremely well...
Should have no troubles towing my AE86 track car
