Given a few arguments lately from insurance companies about the value of an AE86 I've decided to put up a register of what you paid for your AE86. I cannot stress how important it is for you to be honest to provide pictures of the car in your posts of the following.

Hi Matt, I hope this takes your interest.
I think it's important to show a couple of cars in bad condition with prices paid.
That's so that an insurance company can see that a rusty shell, 90% complete is still worth $1000-$1500.
Not like a Laser, that a rusted shell isn't even worth scrap.

My dad is in the smash repairs business, and there was an insurance assessor at work whilst my AE86 was there.
His opinion was they're only worth the around $5,000-$7,000 mark in original/stock condition. Which we all know it's hard to find one like that.
And as you may also know, many insurance companies couldn't care less about how much your modifications have cost you.
On the flip side. RACV happily insured my KE70 with quad-light set-up and wheels for $4,000. If you're on club permit, I highly recommend you check RACV out. It costs me $70 per year for that policy. And $150 a year on a $20,000 Trans Am.
