I agree with what you are saying with the power, though those who aren't happy with the power output have already supercharged / turbo'd their cars.
Its easier to make a car go fast than to cut the roof off it and the sales figures ultimately are what Toyota care about. Each day on the way to work I see at least 4-5 of these on the road. In our carpark at work there is a dozen or so that are mostly owned by women.

Yea they are fine just need revs! Haha
Plenty of aftermarket options too for engine/brakes/suspension etc. I wouldn't be complaining.
Glad other people are saying it, they set the power to match the suspension brakes and tires (well at least brakes on the GTS).
If they released a turbo model it would cost at least 20k more from the factory, which would price them out of their own market.
You could argue they should have released the ae86 with a turbo option as well, but they didn't because they didn't need to and people did, and still do, love it as it was

If they released a turbo i am sure it would be hurting the subaru imprezza line up.
However, the lack of power as such is the difference between it being a good car and a great one. But for most people the power it has is enough.
sales figures world wide however also say they got it right. Though you do see allot of p-platers driving them
