i hate seeing people that buy and sell cars relentlessly, the day they buy it a 'for sale' sign goes on it for a high price and it someone wants it...

i dunno, i just think corollas are something you buy to keep with no view to sell, people pull up stumps on projects way too quickly, its like a pet, the term going to a good home never made more sense.

Unless you are buying a proper vintage car, they are not an investment and a car like an ae86 no matter how cult, nostalgic or whatever, i truly believe they would prefer being used (and maintained) rather than being wrapped in cotton wool or bought and sold 50 times

David on this subject I agree 100% with you , know of a couple of people in the corolla seen that do this , ( they have the legal right to do so ) But I find it impossible to respect them for there lack vision. I am not talking about the guy that runs out of money , family situation arises or a change in situation forces the sale . NO! I am referring to the guys that have sold 4 , 5 , 6 cars in the last 12 months , either as a going concern or as parts. Just saying .

On a positive note , I was recently lucky enough to buy a rusty Trueno copy for a modest price and was then contacted by numerous members with regard to whether I was wrecking it out and can I buy this and that . Most responded very positively when informed that my intention to reshell her into nice roadie. Yes I have quite a collection of Corolla's/Sprinter's ---- but they will all hit the road or track and I will be driving them.

I think that comes down to age of buyer or gen enthusiast people dave. I'd never sell my 86 or my minis.
Some kids get into 86s and realise they are an old car and arnt that car in initial d. Get pissed at losing drag races etc. If I didnt get to drive my car through the hills everyday I dont think I would've come to enjoy it or seen its strengths as I do now.

I kind of agree there, but I think it's more down to maturity and an actual passion for this particular type of car and also to some extent driving ability. A fantastic driver in a slower car will leave a very fast car with an average driver in the rear view very quickly 9/10 times. People that can't drive generally won't enjoy the experience of a slower car because they can't get the best from them, hence they sell and buy an S chassis or something else turbo/v8/whatever so they can be "fast".

Agree with Dave, even if I had a Toyota 2000Gt I'd do a hills run in it. Better to say I drove a 2000gt hard, than - I looked at a 2000gt in my garage

Yeah there is a sweet spot for driving 86's and for me it's in the hills.
