If you are seriously considering that the "the heater controls, the left speaker cover, the plastic for under the steering wheel and the rubber that covers the gear stick" as things that need attention, but it is covered in horrible rust PATCH UPS - BOG IS NOT A RUST REPAIR!!

Sounds like a parts donor car, not a driver. As such the only way to realise its full value (which might be close to 4 grand, not 6, from the info stated) is to part it out. You cant expect someone who is going to consume the space and spend the time and money towing and stripping it to pay dollar for dollar what the car is worth to part.
Offer 1500, see if he starts to negotiate his price. If he doesn't, slap him a high five and walk away. Do this in person. Don't overpay for a shit old car.
2-3k if you mates who are happy to I to town on the bodywork for relatively cheap. An if the running gear is fine. I'd assume that the suspension is fucked and leaking everywhere.

its got the same shit except now its got a bigport instead of a smallport because he spun a bearing. heres some pics (none of the rust repair though and the engine thats in it now isnt the one in the pics)
The interior and stuff looks fine to me - but as everyone has stated, the rust is the killer here. That is what will soak up all your money in getting it to a decent standard
