Santa delivered some goodies through DHL yesterday


BC BR type coilovers.
7kg fronts, 4.5kg rears. Went with the softer rate out of personal choice.




This is the spare room of shame... All ma goodies!

...probably an ADM sprinter's worth in there.

Went to do some Boxing Day shopping today - thought I would hit up Repco and take advantage of their 30% off all DIY spare parts.
Got a $50 voucher off my sister, and some cash off my grandpa which was nice.

I asked for rotors for a Toyota Sprinter, as that's what they were known as in Australia, and it turned out it was the only model listed - so I purchased them for $127 a pair.
I figured if there was only ONE model, it would've been it.
During the transaction, I asked the girl serving me:
"now that was for an '84 Sprinter, correct?"
"..uhm, no 1994 Sprinter. There weren't any others listed."
"Oh. Well, they're no good. I needed an 1984 Sprinter. Maybe we'll look it up by the chassis model."

Turns out that aren't listed as Sprinters in any way, shape or form. So she had to refund the transaction in full, then look again for a 1984 AE86 - listed as Corolla.
Oh well! I can only assume there were a few mistakes made by both customers and clerks today - it was hectic there!
She found the ones for an AE86 - special order only from DBA, none in any other store, no rainchecks on sales prices. $160ish per rotor - or $320ish a pair!

I left Repco empty handed today.

One of the aspects of having a project car (and being a tightarse) is that you do a LOT of work yourself to save money, as well as build skills.
Rebuilding brake calipers is not one of them. For $30 more than a rebuild kit, a shop will do both of them for me. And if they don't work down the track, I can always take them back.

I ordered a pair of QFM HPX pads today. I was tossing up between the A1RM and HPX, but felt the A1RM may just be wasted money for application, and the HPX are still meant to be a good pad.

Another update will be had once my brakes are assembled and on my coilovers!
Because today, my lady and I got liquid nitrogen ice cream instead of doing any work.

Slow work day today, but got a few odd jobs done today


Here's some photos of the rear suspension loosely bolted up. Swaybar isn't aftermarket, just painted. Will look at aftermarket once it's on the road, and get a feel for the over/understeer characteristics of the car.
Front is ready for the coilovers once they're assembled.




Brake system in bits. 1st photo is bits ready for paint, 2nd is to be replaced/reco'd.
Rubbed the booster, seeing as it's such a prominent item in the bay.



Started to nut the guards out. Not sure what to do here... whether to run an inner AND outer guard, or lose the outer, and run single panel.
Will look a bit more into it.



Pulled out the heater core and air components. Blew them all out and cleaned them up.




This needs repair! Fortunately, it looks like the core is fine, and new fittings can just be soldered on to the core. Split in both pipes, and looks like corrosion (and paint )

You win some and you lose some.

I ordered my brake rotors through an eBay seller - knowing full well RDA were completely out of stock on RDA700.
I thought they may have some stock on hand, so ordered them anyway.

They didn't. So they sent me the next best thing - obviously nothing worse, as I may complain I over-paid for a lesser product.

Brand new Brembo! Score!



Pulled my rear brakes apart - the shop will machine the drums/shoes to fit. They're rebuilding my calipers and master, as well as making up new lines. Picked up new front wheel bearing kits too. $13 each for a kit from the local bearing joint.



Went to Bunnings and picked up some foam door-sealer to re-do my heater system. Worked perfectly for them! $3 solution
