Each of the teams competing in this weekend’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12-Hour have the choice of two fuels; BP Ultimate 98 (98RON) or ELF LMS (102RON). Around 19 of the 44 entries are running the ELF, while the balance of the field are filling up with 98. Mark Tierney from RaceFuels (the Australian ELF distributor and exclusive fuel supplier to the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12-Hour) states, “over the race weekend were expecting to use around 20,000-litres of ELF and some 30,000-litres of Ultimate.”
At 102RON the ELF offersengines more protection, while it’s 2.5% oxygen content helps it to producemore power – it’s the same fuel used in European GT racing. Understandablythere’s a bit of price difference; $2.95/L for the 98 and $7.70/L for the ELF.“Any team vying for outright contention is running the ELF,” says Tierney, “ithas had a 100 per cent win rate since the GT class was introduced at theBathurst 12-Hour.”
