Should be on your registration papers or build plate I imagine
NCOP guidelines for engine conversions give maximum allowable capacity based on the vehicle's weight. Where would I find the official weight for a particular vehicle? Is there a list or would I need to contact Toyota? Specifically looking for RA65 but would be handy to have a list of all vehicles.
Should be on your registration papers or build plate I imagine
Is the official weight specific to an individual chassis number? i.e. Would all RA65 lift backs (for example) have the same registered weight or would it vary car to car depending on what options it left the factory with? This isn't for a vehicle I currently own, it's more a hypothetical.
RA65 - Passenger Car Category MA

2.13.1 Vehicle Mass
The mass of the vehicle referred to in Tables LA1, LA2 and LA3 is the original (unmodified) tare
mass of the model vehicle fitted with the largest engine available for the model in Australia but
without optional accessories (air conditioning, tow bars etc.). The mass of the vehicle, whether it
is a sedan, station wagon, utility, etc., should be based on the heaviest sedan version of the model
(not station wagon version) sold in Australia.
Being that there is no sedan version, i would base it off RA65R BLPQEQ XT tare 1150kg
Naturally Aspirated
Original mass (kg) x 4.0
= max. capacity in cc’s
1150kg x 4 = 4.6L NA
Forced Induction
Original mass (kg) x 2.75
= max. capacity in cc’s
1150 x 2.75 = 3.1625L FI
*Formula doesn't apply to light goods carrying vehicles - Category NA

Thank you mate, that's exactly what I was after!
This is my interpretation and may not be 100% correct.
Engine conversions ain't cheap.
Please double check with engineer before going ahead.
What are you putting in it?
Don't worry, I won't hold you to it haha. I'm just throwing around ideas at this stage.
Currently doing a blacktop into KE70 which is pretty straightforward. Was curious about 3rz turbo into RA65 for future project.
Back in NZ you can certify (mod plate) any conversion you like as long as it's done properly. Still getting my head around the "system" here in Aus.
I am not saying that the following is standard in all states, but here in the ACT, when I got my AE71 Panelvan registered, the RTA asked ME how much the car weighed as they had no reference...... I just made up a number, 1075kg, and they accepted that without question. So, my rego papers say my Panelvan weighs 1075kg, but really is weighs less.....
EDIT: I just went down to the weigh bridge to see what the van actually weighs..... Came up 960kg (without driver)
