Default Adding sound deadner - I know I know

Prepared to be flamed, but out of curiousity has anyone added any dynamat or similar to their 86 and did they find it made an improvement to road noise etc.

Understand that most people are about stripping their 86's out which is great, but I plan on making mine a bit more of a street car then race car and would like to be able to take it out with the wife and kid every now and then, so for their comfort I'm considering adding some dynamat to the floor and front doors.

Weight wise I'm not too worried I could stand too lose 20kg myself so I'll work on that instead of stripping the 86 lol

So if you've done it and there was noticabled improvement in noise levels please let me know!

I found the standard sound deadening combined with a full interior to be pretty decent for road noise as far as 80's economy cars go to be honest, my last car was fully stripped with no deadener and it was horrendously loud inside. Current car has a full interior and sound deadening and I drove it to Sydney and back extremely comfortably.

Mine is loud as shit at about 110km, might work on fixing all the rattles first and maybe an additional muffler.

Would still think a bit of deadener in the doors wouldnt be a bad thing, and not much additional weight

put another muffler in, make sure your door seal rubber are all ok, run brand name tyres that are quieter than china ones. make sure all interior bolts are tight

I personally wouldn't add any extra weight to the doors, they are already massive and heavy and adding more weight will put extra stress on the door hinges.
Around the floor pan and firewall would work well. But like others have said they aren't too noisy to begin with if its all original and seals are in good condition.

Painting with tar is also a means to sound deaden. It used to be done allot in audio circles on doors and in the boot mostly.

Yeah spray on sound deadening, you can also buy 2mm thick stick on pads of the stuff that helps kill reverb of panels.
