depends what state you are in. in nsw the legislation states that you can replace any exterior bolt on panel with a fiberglass replacement. so bumpers, front fenders, bonnet and boot/hatch are ok. doors are not considered a 'panel'

Ive heard hearsay about you can get defected for any replacement body panel made from either carbon or fibre glass, but as far as I can tell, the NCOP allows for fibreglass panels that are at least 3.5mm thick and only on non-intrusion panels like the bonnet.
Would the rear hatch be a non intrusion panel?
Pretty sure the hatch would be considered an intrusion panel as it enters into the passenger space.
AFIK there is nothing in the NCOP that states what material the bonnet / hatch must be made from.
