Load up the side making the noise by turning left / right sharply. If it gets loader as you turn left, it is the right wheel bearing, as you turn right it'll be the left wheel bearing etc.
If it constantly stays the same, likely to be the pinion.
Hey guys, I'm in need of some desperate help! As I increase in speed, I get a weird clunk and whine from the rear/ rear driver side of my car. Now I've done a bit of research but still can't really pinpoint it. I know it's either Wheel bearing or Ring and pinion. Any way to sell for sure?

Now that's a thread title that can be misinterpreted.
Had the same clunk sound, and that's because the tailshaft was not tight.
