Pretty badass car, but I can't seem to open that link you have. It gives me an error
Hi All,
Thought i would start a thread for my AE71 Build, or should i say re-work of the car.
Here is the build thread for the first rendition of this car featuring a 7AGTE 20v Turbo engine
Which has been a true joy to drive over the last few years, however
I have missed the memories and joys of a screaming N/A engine under the hood from many years ago..
And it is time to build an N/A engine for this car, lose some weight in the car in an attempt to
regain the nimble nature of a light corolla which was noticeably diminished with the heavy Hilux diff, w58 box and
and the bolt ons that are required for a turbo engine such as manifolds intercooler ect ect.
Also a nice and linear power curve would improve the overall driveability of the car particular at the tighter circuits such as Winton.
With the 7AGTE engine/gearbox sold off, as well as the hilux diff setup, I can move on building the new driveline.
The new differential: (in progress)
Mark 2 Corona F series Diff
JDI Fabrications AE71 Mount kit welded on
Tarago oil baffles (Samq)
Skyline r33 disks
Duel r33 caliper setup
Altezza Cusco 1.5 way LSD
4.56 gears
The Engine:
Altezza Blacktop 3SGE Beams Engine
Built by Cave Hill Engines
thus far:
TRD Inlet and exhaust 296 camshafts
TODA cam gears and TODA cambelt
TRD billet Inlet adaptor for throttles
HKS Super header
new OEM Oil Pump
new OEM water pump
OEM 3sge Gasket set
ARP Headstuds
ARP Main studs
Cave Hill engines full head port and polish, matching the
inlet and exhaust manifoltd in this process
And the Glenn Booth collection:
Billet Crankshaft (45mm big end)
Valve Springs
Oversize stainless valves
Titanium retainers
CP 13.5:1 forged pistons 86.5mm(sent these off for Teflon coated skirts and ceramic coated crowns)
Forged longer rods, 45mm big end
Yet to be purchased are the booth 50mm throttles and outboard TODA style injection system.
Gearbox:
Standard altezza J160
SAMQ Shifter relecation Kit
Custom Made TILTON Twin Plate Race clutch/flywheel
Management
Engine management by ADAPTRONIC
Modular M2000
So that is where i am at so far, Engine is being built over the next few weeks,
as you can see in the photos, a torque plate has been made prior to bore and hone.
Pretty badass car, but I can't seem to open that link you have. It gives me an error
Will you be going to dry sump at all

Is that the worlds most heavy duty piston ring compressor?
That link has been fixed Normand cheers.
I dont think i will go dry sump josh, however i am looking at an accusump for a bit off safety.
Thats a torque plate Matt, its used to mimic the force of the cylinder head clamping to the block while its bored/honed,
some engine blocks actually twist or warp a little bit when the head is bolted on, so to ensure the bores are perfectly aligned even when the head
is put on later, the torque plate has it covered.
A bit of progress on the weekend,
Started working on the Corona diff
Stripped the diff down and removed all the corona brackets, still more grinding to do before
its ready to receive the corolla mounts
Pulled the Altezza housing apart and put the 4.56 gears and cusco LSD into the corona housing.
Wes at viking automotive is setting the diff up for me with a solid pinion spacer.
shouldnt be too long before i can start working out caliper brackets for it.
Very nice! The same as the rally car we seem to be forever building, but you've poured a lot more dollars into the motor.
What are you going to use it for? Still mainly road use so no cage?
..and what are you setting the suspension up as? Keeping paralell arms with the same lengths and angles?
With so much travel needed and a gravel-only use, we're looking at a Watts linkage & equal-length arms, but if you're lowered with little travel you can use a Bex linkage.
Got any pics of the rear brake set up. i'm build up a MkII corona diff too
Only just saw this, plans look sick! Beams should make very good power with the throttles and cams. Id say around 155rwkw mark?
RT142 Estate.
AJPS.
Vlad, yes it seems the building never ends!
this has a full cage is is primarily used for circuit. yes i use standard diff arms with different position brackets on the diff itself to adjust the roll centre to some degree.
I can image it is much more important for you with alot of travel to have equal length arms, but for me with very little travel it seems to be ok.
No pictures yet of the brake setup Stuart, however this is what i am working on at the moment, ill post when i have something to show.
Cheers Henry, should be fun!
yes i am not sure what power it will make, somewhere in that ball park i would imagine.
Very clean build! Do you do auto cross? Any track footage?
