About time!
I'll get back to my thread once my trueno is back on the road.
Bought this whilst on Holidays in Japan in about 2015.
2016 I brang it over to Australia. Was October 2016 I think from memory it came to Port Kembla, Registered it on Historic Rego which happened to be timed perfectly as at the time the "New Logbook Trial" had just come out. Drove the car to QLD a few weeks later for Drift matsuri at QR.
Car was pretty basic.. 4AG 264/256 HKS Cams, little bit of head work.. all done in Japan. Was stock with a T50 / AC / Power steering. 4.778 Diff gears... I didn't really touch the car much, it was my daily driver.
Heres some pictures
After QLD Matsuri... I did a J160 Gearbox 6 speed conversion on it, SK Sanyo 4 Throttle kit ( all ran off the Stock ECU which amazed many ) and I tidied the suspension up a little bit, 2nd hand new Project mu pads... and continued drifting it
Friend Daryl in his recently purchased S13 from Andyy chasing me down! Was a good night as the AE86 was driving well. From memory I did a drift school event and this south circuit day all on the same pair of 175/60 Falken tyres hahaha.. Literally just fuel and drive with this car.
Another drift day
Halfway Hangs with Benny
Another pic from Halfway Hangs
Maisan De ruler taking more photos of the car
This is my most memorable photo of the car.. Pretty much the last photo I took of it. It was a few days before selling it to a dude in Melbourne. I had just driven from Coffs harbour after Halfway hangs.
Carbon bonnet was added at some stage... was actually off Beau Jones AE86 from back in the day. The throttle set up was off another OG's car which I can't remember his name right now but later it will come back to me.
There was really something about this car... I shouldn't have sold it but.... I sold it so I could move to Japan which didn't end up working out but anyhow I still went to Japan and had some fun... Soooo heres some pics of Japan
I fitted this Beams Motor / J160 into KE70
Took it drifting at Fuji, Bihoku and Okuibuki ski park circuit's whilst I was over there... Long story to it all so I'll leave it at that.
Returned from Japan, had no AE86.. I was burning at this stage that I had sold the red car....
Hoped onto AE86DC and there was this... ADM, Blue AE86.. Engineered, 20V, T50, T series drum diff... $2000 or $2500 from memory. Drove up almost instantly and picked it up
Stripped it down, Sold the 20V package off, Sold the 5 speed box off..
Got the shell Sandblasted
I had an idea in my mind as to what I wanted... I always loved UEOS AE86 in 2003 before it went to Trueno
Got Blasted, Got it rolling and set it off to get painted
N2 TRD Bonnet
At this stage I had ... Gotten the Original ITB Set up from the red AE86 back and the 6 speed gearbox.
Then this HKS Supercharger kit popped up in NZ and I was like yep that'll make it go better
Somewhere whilst building the black car, I got this White JDM AE86 and stripped it of its interior, LSD diff, lights, corners and all its Jap bits.. swapped the Aussy stuff off my Black (originally Blue) car and then sold the white AE86 off.
I'll try track down some more photos and save them, reupload to this site so they don't go missing in a couple years and we got empty threads.
About time!
I'll get back to my thread once my trueno is back on the road.
Here's some more....
So from here the car went to Hypertune thanks to Ben ( Driftkid ), Dan (Jdmwheels), Pete and the rest of the guys at Hypertune who helped out with the build
Custom Hypertune Intercooler, Setrab Oil cooler and a mount for the front Kouki Jap bar
Custom made Radiator a little bit smaller in height compared to a standard AE86 radiator, but twin passed. Made it a tad smaller to get the oil cooler lines, Cooler pipes under neath it.
Put wiggins clamps on everything, Ported the standard throttlebody to suit the larger sized piping.
Then onto the 50mm Stainless headers... I got all the pipes and we both had some idea as to what we were going to do with it but Benny went wild and came up with this.
I ended up buying another complete AE86 from Paul Shaw .... Probably haven't heard that name in a while, but before he was extradited from Australia I bought a rally spec AE86 that had an Autronic SM4, Another 4AGZE, Supra box, Hilux diff, Full cage... all that ... but the 4AGZE was supposedly rebuilt... I got no idea... It's got standard cams, has ARP head studs and a metal gasket.. compression was equal to some extent so my thoughts were just run with it and thats what I did.
Got it out, stripped it down.. cleaned it all up. New genuine Water system, sealed everything up and bolted it into the car once it come back from Hypertune as it only had an NA motor in it at that point.
Notice the 6 speed gearbox in there. Has a nice TRD Flywheel, which i had lightened a little more and a fresh clutch. Over sized crank pulley aswell to overdrive the HKS Supercharger.
Lots of mucking around as I had a dodgy Auto elec come wire it and he made more problems than he did good... Should've sat down and worked it out myself rather than paying somebody to do it.. anyhow I was in a rush as I was trying to get it to Halfway Hangs 2018 at this stage.. I was working day and night to get it together for the event.
Front REVOLVER AE86 Civic Type R brake kit and genuine Revolver struts which I fitted the Largest Bilstein shock into. Took a fair bit of machining from Bilstein and on my side to get the strut to accept the larger bore shock. Went to SSS wreckers in Girraween and raided there spring bin and found some 170mm free height, 8.8KG SWIFT Springs... Made them all fit and chucked some Cusco Cambertops on. XT130/KE30 +10mm Longer Lcas, knocked brackets off for extra lock. Power Steering knuckles, Quick Rack, Slim bushes, all new bushes throughout the car... I actually had TRD Bushes to use in most of it which was cool
Got it to Halfway Hangs.
I didn't sleep for about 3 days before getting to Halfway Hangs. I took the car to JEM the day before we and stayed there from 1PM till 4AM that morning fixing wiring issues, chasing coil problems etc... Ended up getting it to work, got it on the Dyno and it made about 130KW with almost no fuel pressure as the fuel pump was dying in it. First few runs were good, made 130kw easy with normal fuel pressure, but then it dropped to around 35psi from memory and stayed there for the rest of the night so we left it at that and I took it drifting like that. It was making about 120KW during the day but I had non stop issues with the car...
My alternator wasn't charging, I changed Alternators and didn't realise at the time that it had a Black anodized pulley on the Alternator that stuck up 2-3mm more than the OEM Crank / supercharger pulleys so it was throwing the belt off the supercharger / accesories / water pump and I ended up just giving up as it was super fustrating.
Nice picture of where I spent a lot of time from Marvis
Another Pic from halfway whilst I was fixing the brake issue as it had issues with the EP91 Booster / R32 GTR Mastercylinder
I think this was a photo of it before Halfway
Photo of it in my workshop whilst I was upset with it.
SOOOO After all that mucking around.. I left it outside for 6 months because I was really unmotivated with it
The Justin from Prowire asked me if I wanted him to wire it up as I had asked him about a year previously and he was too busy at the time. I dropped the car off to him a day or so later. We ended up rewiring the entire Engine side of things with a new Emtron SL4. Ran new Bosch Oil pressure, Fuel pressure sensors. Set it up to run Bosch 550cc injectors.
We rewired the whole front end of the car, plugs into factory fuse boxes. Made a plug and play rear loom aswell to suit the EFI set up.
I ended up buying Beau Yates F series diff from his AE86 a couple months back. I've fitted that and sold my T Series diff off.
Once I get the tailshaft sorted ( thinking Carbon Fiber ) Hopefully a 1 piece from an RX8 can be modified to fit, some little spacers made for the fuel rail i'll put it on the dyno again chuck a tune into it and hopefully start driving it soon. It's very close to being done.
Heres a pic of it running aswell at Halfway.
But this is the new toy. AE86 is on the back burner again haha..
Speak soon, hopefully some more people start posting back on this forum!
